Acupuncture is the ancient Traditional Chinese medicine practice which involves the insertion of fine needles into the body to promote well – being and address disease states.
Acupuncture offers a natural drug free therapy for a range of conditions, including postural and musculoskeletal problems, chronic pain gynaecology, insomnia, anxiety and mental and emotional disorders.
Acupuncture is often used in conjunction with Chinese herbal formulae, suction cups and the burning of herbs held over affected parts of the body - ‘ moxibustion ‘.
Acupuncture is a safe and almost painless form of medicine. Sometimes a needle may cause a stinging sensation for a couple of seconds, after which it will be painless and barely perceptible by the patient. Acupuncture is in fact very relaxing, and many people fall asleep for a short while during treatment.
